Newborn Photo sessions can sometimes be challenging. Parents are always debating whether capturing images of their baby just days or 2-3 weeks after they’re born or wait a few months… People who skip the opportunity to capture their newborn baby often regret it. You may be all familiar with the wonders a talented photographer like Anne Geddes can create with sleepy babies, that fit perfectly and effortlessly into dad’s big arms to create those amazing artistic shots, or capturing the way they crawl as they sleep. My Newborn Photography Style is rather simple and intimate, trying to emphasize the emotion of this new amazing adventure rather then using a lot of props. But for a change, I was determined to stretch a little during Alex’s Newborn Session, with his mom we had planned to use a few props once Alex fell asleep… only we had to change our mind when things weren’t working the way we planned

Alex would doze off for a couple of minutes but the moment we would prop him up he’d became restless so we had to stick to plan B which is what I know best! Simple, loving, priceless moments being cuddled by mom and dad!

Another challenge is having your older kid cooperating and posing for a family photo… I found that if you don’t force them to pose, and take a few photos of just mom and dad with the new baby, the older kid will eventually get curious and will wanna be included… just be patient and you’ll get your priceless shot!

So, whether you are an amateur photographer or a parent in doubt to take those newborn photos, these are the challenges of shooting Newborn Portraiture… Be flexible with your ideas, and relaxed so your kid won’t pick up a negative vibe, the well being of the newborn is the most important thing, do whatever is more comfortable for them… Going with the flow somehow always helps to create magical unforgettable memories. It is definitely worth it!!
